Kee Engineering is currently undertaking a large scale installation project at Leeds Bradford Airport which involves the construction of two bulk storage tanks along with the associated access systems and piping systems.
The first part of this installation project was the construction of walkways, ladders for access and the installation of new inspection hatch and vent systems that would allow safe passage across both tanks.
Following completion of the walkway system, the team progressed to fabricating and installing the related pipe work.
Project Description
Works included in this phase are as follows:
- Fabricating and installing tank access walkways
- Installing access ladders and platforms to all tanks
- Installing inspection hatches and vents on each tank.
- Fabricating of associated piping.
- Instillation of Primary Piping and Fittings (including associated valves).
- Fabricating and installing Pipe Supports and Bracketry
- Instillation of remainder Small Bore Pipework.
All of the main piping and related fittings have been completed and installed. The last few phases of the project are in progress.
There are still a number of minor small bore piping systems to be installed as well as finishing off the bracket installation prior to receiving final approval on the system.
Industrial Tank and Pipework Installation
This project illustrates Kee Engineering’s capability to manage structural access systems, fabrication and industrial pipework installation within an integrated tank structure project.
Co-ordinating with other site infrastructure is a challenge that will require a well-planned strategy for the lifting operation, access routes for pipework, and sequence of pipework installation when working at heights and around live plant.
